Why Stainless Steel Over Titanium?
Its Not As Simple As you Think.
- Stainless Steel is stronger than titanium, with higher tensile yield strength. However, titanium offers higher strength-to-weight ratios.
- Stainless steel is an alloy where titanium is a chemical. This makes titanium considerably more expensive to manufacture.
- Titanium has excellent corrosion resistence as do some steel alloys such as 304 and 316 stainless steel.
- Titanium is lighter than steel, making it a popular choice for weight-sensitive applications. Not a factor to be concerned with when storing your seed phrase.
- Stainless steel has more tensile yield strangth meaning it is more resistant to deformation (bending/warping).
- Titanium has a higher temperature resistance over stainless steel. Stainless steel is still more than sufficient to withstand any fires you are likley to encounter.
